Compass National & Compass Prescriber
Disease Area Projections
We’re excited to announce that Disease Area projections are now available for all products within Compass Prescriber and Compass National. This enables more precise tracking, targeting, and analytics for multi-indication products.
- Availability & Details:
- Disease Area breakouts are available for FDA-approved Disease Areas for more than 4,000 products within Prescriber and National
- Utilizes a standard claims-based approach and diagnosis code mapping to support product breakouts across over 525 disease areas
- Available across 3 core metrics:
- Tx: Total Prescriptions & Procedures
- NP: New Patients
- TP: Total Patients
- Published the 28th of each month for Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly deliveries
- Disease Area metrics tie to product-level metrics
- Analytic Benefits for Disease Area Projections:
- Deliver critical detail for analyzing therapies with multiple approved indications, particularly in immunotherapies, oncology, dermatology, and psychiatry.
- Enable users to understand market and prescriber volume to their specific conditions of focus.
- Provide a key lever for targeting and segmenting prescriber treatment patterns within a specific disease.
- Allows teams to more accurately research trends, calculate market share, and forecast uptake curves following new FDA-approved label expansions.
New visualizations are now available in Compass National, adding context on Disease Area in existing charts and providing two new views to visualize product utilizations and trends by condition.
On the Table View, the new Disease Area column indicates FDA-approved conditions per product. Users can click to expand a product row and see key metrics split out by Disease Area. Metrics include Total Prescriptions & Procedures (Tx), New Patients (NP), and Total Patients (TP). Additionally, streamlined time frame choices simplify the decision between level of projection granularity (1 week, 1 month, 1 quarter, 1 year).
On the Graph View, the Disease Area filter at the top of the page allows users to filter visuals on the page by choosing a subset of disease areas. The new Disease Area Share by Product chart displays the percent distribution of Disease Areas for each selected product. Users can toggle between Tx and New Patients to see how often a product is used for various Disease Areas.
The new Disease Area Market Trends chart displays the overall disease area volume across selected products. Users can toggle between Total Prescriptions & Procedures (Tx), New Patients (NP), and Total Patients (TP) to see how market volume trends over time by Disease Area.
Enhanced Schema with New Attributes
We are pleased to announce an expanded schema for Compass National and Compass Prescriber. The exciting changes are in two categories:
- New attributes provide deeper insight into product usage by condition and added context on job criteria.
- Updated & retiring attributes provide enhanced prescriber categorization and streamline delivery.
An overview of these updates is provided below. Customers will have until August 24, 2027 to implement this new v3 schema.
New Attributes
- Disease Area for insight into the specific conditions a product is being used to treat. Disease Area field allows users to filter by specific product indication or to view a product by its total volume, providing analytical flexibility.
- Time Interval for added temporal context on job criteria. Time Interval field provides an easy reference to the time period chosen for a given job: week, month, quarter, or year.
Updated & Retiring Attributes
- Expanded HCP & HCO data powered by Veeva OpenData.
- HCP Type provides more precise filtering to actionable prescribers, including Physicians (MDs, DOs), Physicians Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners.
- HCP Specialty includes more granular values specific to the US health system to improve target lists. For example, Pediatrics is now expanded into thirty pediatric specialties. This can also be helpful when breaking apart specialties to keep the prescribing practitioner, but remove the less actionable practitioners (e.g., separating Physical Therapy into Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists from non-prescribing Massage Therapists).
- HCO Type provides more insight into high-interest US care locations, like Blood and Transplant Center, Infusion Center, and Dialysis Centers.
- Consolidated similar HCP & HCO fields
- Separate code and label fields for HCP specialties are consolidated. Full specialty names can be found in the updated HCP specialty field.
- Medical degree code and label fields are retired. More precise details can be found in the new HCP Type field.
- Separate code and label fields for HCO type are consolidated. Full names can be found in the updated HCO type field.
- Consolidated Metric fields
- Individual metric fields consolidated into metric and metric value columns for improved scalability and compatibility with analytics tools.
